Why Separate states needed? partition of Uttar pradesh

partition of uttar pradesh.

Now Mayawati wants to divide the Uttar Pradesh. Its a really a big announcement and it must be a political stunt. This is very common when elections approaches. These kind of stunts and announcements easily divert public’s concentration.
In the south, people wants Telengana as a separate state. The people are becoming very aggressive about Telengana. Last year it was about Vidharbha.

Mayawati wants UP divided in Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh and Paschim Pradesh.

Major Reasons why separate states needed.

  • 1. Majorly people believes in having distinct identity or the special existence.

  • 2. Having smaller district can have better development in all sector. Smaller parts for better governance.

  • 3. Raising the issues of separate states can earn the people’s faith and this can be a major vote bank. In other words Political interest create the need of separate state.

  • 4. Consumption and Utilization of funds and natural resources. Some districts of any states remains backward. And some shows good growth in all sector. There are many reasons for growth like natural geographical position, politicians, environment, natural resources, education system, employment opportunity. So basically people wants developed and backward areas different. In other words, separate states on the basis of developed and backward regions

  • 5. The river water distributions and Dam can be a reason for having separate states. In Telengana issue this factor is major.

  • 6. Language difference. In India after every 100/200km we found languages difference. People are interested in differentiating people as per their languages which makes the issue big and become the a reason for having separate state.

  • divide UP in 4 states

Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh and Paschim Pradesh

    Nice one Sushant.

There are various pros and cons of having smaller separate states.

Pros are as you’ve already narrated. The additional one is possibility of better administration (this is exactly the reason given by Mayawati for this division.).

But in the cons, the biggest and which I think is most probable in the divided UP, is the possibility of becoming monopolies. In bigger states, it’s pretty hard to maintain the hold on all people. While in smaller ones, it’s easier to keep it and keep winning no matter what you do.

Apart from this, in the smaller states, the lack of infrastructure support (which is easily available due to geographical diversity in bigger states) is unavailable. This may stand these states in problems.

One more con which I can think of is border disputes. Right now, many states in India are suffering due to border disputes. More the states, more will be the borders and more chances for disputes.

    Hi Pratap,
    Management is the key.
The reason Maywati has given is correct. But administration of any small states initially was not good..

So everything depends up on the Management.

In current condition every state in India have Developed and Backward regions.

Every state should take responsibility of that backward region as if its separated they are going to depend on surrounding states !!

Yes Pratap your are very correct !

    Nice Article!!

  • Nipender says:

I agree with you. Merely creating boundaries are not gonna work.
Development does not mean to distribute these for vote bank. Development can be done through proper management as sushya said. Emphasis should be given to development policies rather than these tricky schemes.

These People have Management skills. But not for good reasons :) !
