The year 2011 is the historical year for Indian Sports. After 28 years we won the world cup. There was massive eruption of celebrations when India won against Pakistan in world cup. The same kind of celebrations repeated after winning the World Cup. The moment when cricket GOD, Sachin Tendulkar, jumped like child :) ! !

Like in cricket , India shown a great achievements in other sports like hockey, boxing,badminton, shooting etc…Here are some major achievements of India in sports.


Hockey!, Indian National Game!

Indian Hockey squad beats Pakistan and win the Asian Champions Trophy in China. 4-2′s penalty shoot out reminded Indians about their national game. The match was so thriller that both team had chances of winning Asian Champions Trophy.

Jwala and Ashwini

After 28 years Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa claimed the bronze in World Badminton Championships. It was Prakash Padukone who brought the bronze in Men’s singles in 1983.

This year was average for Saina Nehwal. But last few days of year 2011 she became the first Indian player to reach the singles final of the BWF(Badminton World Federation) World Superseries Finals.

Vikas Krishan boxer

Haryana boxer Vikas Krishan won a bronze in World Championships under the 69 kg category at the 2011 edition in Baku, Azerbaijan. Vijender Singh is the first Indian to win a medal at the world meet. He won a bronze in 2009.

Virendra Sehwag

Virender Sehwag shown his huge power in batting this year and made the highest double century score 219 off 149 balls vs West Indies.

Formula One

Formula One, the pinnacle of motor sport, arrived India in October 2011. Top Indian celebrity joined the inaugural ceremony. The circuit is in Greater Noida called Buddha circuit. The Indian team name is Force India.

Gagan Narang

Gagan Narang wins gold at CWG

The ace Indian shooter.
He became the first Indian to qualify for London Olympics 2012 after winning bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle event at the World Championship in Munich. He bagged 4 gold in Common wealth 2010 games.

The Ace Indian trap shooter already booked his ticket for London 2012 Olympics. Rojan won silver medal in Common wealth games 2010 in Men’s double trap singles. In 2011 he won the silver in World Cup ISSF(- International Shooting Sport Federation) at Bejing.

The National Sports Development Bill or Sports Bill. It could be a great landmark for Indian Sports and for Sport Minister Ajay Makhen, if passed. To keep overall transparency in every aspect like Doping,Age, Sexual harassment Ajay Makhen introduced the sport bill. BCCI rejected sports bill.
